The recently established Center for Human Immunology (CHI) aims to build an interconnected network of clinician-scientists, computational scientists, economists, sociologists and psychologists dedicated to promote research and education in the field of Human Immunology.
With the CHI Seminar, CHI started a series of talks and discussions whereby in each session one speaker will cover a topic of human immunology and another speaker a related topic of social science, healthy aging, and data science. Every session will be followed by a networking apero.
The first session took place on Nov 27 and was entitled “Status and health: from immunity to society”. Prof. Michael Shanahan (Co-Director, Institute of Sociology; Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development) presented on “Socioeconomic status and the regulation of the genome”. Prof. Onur Boyman (Founding Director, Center for Human Immunology) presented on “Immunity and autoimmunity”.
