Prof. Nora Raschle and Réka Borbás from the Developmental Neuroscience area of the Jacobs Center talk about the magical world of reading in a special edition entitled “Everything you and your teachers need to know about the learning brain” in Frontiers for Young Minds. They discuss how the brain learns to read, and how this process comes easier to some children than others. They also discuss how reading problems are often undiagnosed until the 2nd and 3rd grade, although the best and most effective window for support is much earlier (dyslexia paradox). Writing for a journal whose main audience includes children and young adolescents is fun, and also a very important step towards informing and empowering the next generation of young scientists.
