New paper on self-, other-, and dual-harm during adolescence. Harm against self and others ranks among the top public health challenges facing young people in the Western world. Some adolescents engage in both, self- and other-harm (i.e., dual-harm). In this paper, Dr. Annekatrin Steinhoff and colleagues from the “risk and resilience” area (led by Prof. Lilly Shanahan) and the z-proso study showed that adolescent dual-harm follows psychological problems and social disconnection in childhood. In addition, dual-harm signals a high risk of psychopathology and isolation in early adulthood. Read the full paper published in Psychological Medicine here.
