Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development

Education Economics

Prof. Dr. Ulf Zölitz

The Economics of Education group conducts policy-relevant research on how to help all children reach their full potential, boost child and youth development, increase equality of educational opportunity, and reduce inequality. Our research focuses on three key factors in the education production function: parents, peers, and teachers. We investigate how parenting styles in different countries shape child outcomes, how same-role models shape educational trajectories, and how the classroom peer composition affects bullying, performance, and school dropout. Our group aims to provide empirical evidence that will improve the lives of children.
