Xenia Anna Häfeli, Dr.

  • Postdoctoral Research Associate
  • Risk & Resilience

Dr. Xenia Anna Häfeli holds a position as a post-doctoral research associate at  the Risk and Resilience research laboratory at the Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development (PI: Prof. Lilly Shanahan) and the Experimental and Clinical Pharmacopsychology laboratory at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich (PI: Prof. Boris B. Quednow). Dr. Häfeli completed her BSc and MSc in Psychology at the University of Zurich, followed by a doctorate at the University of Bern in the research group of Prof. Stefanie J. Schmidt at the Department of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.

Her main research project was the EMERGE-study, a longitudinal epidemiological study funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) as part of an Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship. During her PhD, she focused on mapping the temporal patterns and dynamic interactions of subclinical symptoms, as well as the influence of transdiagnostic mechanisms on these trajectories, aiming to advance the understanding of emerging psychopathology in adolescence.

Broadly, her interests encompass developmental psychopathology, early identification of mental health risk, and the application of person-centered and network-based approaches to better capture dynamic symptom interactions. She is particularly committed to advancing translational research that bridges epidemiological findings with clinical practice to improve early intervention strategies for youth.
