The Swiss Evidence in Education Lab

Translating Research into Policy in Switzerland

The Swiss EdLab works to bring research to where it makes an impact: in education policy and the education system. As a joint initiative of the Jacobs Foundation and the Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development (JCPYD), we make scientific findings accessible, understandable and usable – so that decisions in the field of education can be made more informed and every child receives the best possible support. At the same time, we contribute to international exchange through our connection to the EU LEARN project.

Bringing About Sustainable Change in the Swiss Education System

The Swiss EdLab implements and disseminates findings from educational and developmental research and develops now tools for evidence-based education policy. We promote scientific and data literacy (e.g., through the CAS for Evidence and Innovation in the Education System, which is currently being established) and provide a dialogue between research, politics, and practice. Further, we conduct longitudinal research on educational pathways, performance and effects of policy measures and we conduct country-specific studies in collaboration with partners in Switzerland and Europe.
